COMPANY PROFILE

WELCOME TO ENGINE RESTORATIONS LTD
(Murray Horn formerly of AutoMotivePryde Ltd)

Engine Restorations Ltd have served the automotive industry for over 25 years. In this time they have reconditioned most makes & types of both petrol & diesel engines, from the smallest 2-stroke, the modern high reving DOHC, diesel, 4x4's & vans to agricultural engines of indeterminate vintage.

Specialist
White Metal
Bearing Manufacturers

Although the bulk of today's reconditioning work is providing the trade with re-built heads, the people at Engine Restorations have a particular love of old machinery & vintage cars.
Consequently the reconditioning work associated with this hobby is a growing percentage of the companies output.

It is not unusual to have requests arriving from all over New Zealand from people (including other engine reconditioners) with requests for 'white metal' bearings to be made for con-rods, shells and shafts to be built up with metal spray, or crankshafts to be precision ground and many other fields of engine reconditioning..

CYCLINDER HEAD RECONDITIONING
Many of todays engines are fitted with aluminium cylinder heads & whilst generally giving long service they are suseptible to corrosion and overheating. The absence of anti-freeze in the cooling will cause corrosion to the point that the head will leak oil into the oil with an obvious loss of performance.
An overheated head may bend, resulting in a blown head gasket or broken camshafts.
Many of these heads can be repaired if the alloy has not softened. Welding cracks or corrosion, straightening, maching the head surface and valves & seats will return the head to service, usually at a lower cost than replacing the item

DIESEL ENGINES:
From modern small Japanese diesels to large diesel powered cranes & tractors, you can be cnfident of a professional & comprehensive assessment and fully guaranteed rebuild of your engine and components, This includes injectors, pump and turbo (if required). We can, with our own in-house workshop also remove & on completion of the rebuild, replace your engine to minimise off-road time.

CRANK GRINDING:
With a full sized electronically controlled crank grinding lathe on site, most crankshafts can be polished or ground to the nearest undersize with bearings supplied to suit.
